Le Pont du trieur (The Sorter’s Bridge), Feature film released in 2000. Starring Thibault de Montalembert, Ogonozar Aknazarov and Camille Japy.
On the rooftops of Khorog, capital of the Pamir region and highest point of Tajikistan, on the border with Afghanistan and China, television antennas are often makeshift... One of them is exemplary: here, like a symbol, two 16mm film reels are placed side by side to pick up the airwaves. Conceived as a radio program, Le Pont du trieur ((The Sorter’s Bridge) examines the mythical Pamir, "a country of which there is no image".
Neither documentary nor fiction, this film is not based on an investigation, but on an poetic stroll: from a Parisian radio studio where a Pamiri botanist comes to talk about his country, to the hypothetical guardian of one of the world's highest passes, via a back-to-school experience in an unnamed village, or following a sidecar that looks like Noah's Ark. A journey between subjectivity and immensity. Like the fall of a stray reel from a faraway land, compounding the mystery.
